The hygiene rating for local food centers is questionable.
Previously under the HDB, complaints lodged that the food centers were not as clean and rats found visiting certain areas at dark but there was no case of death reported.
However, recently two elderly died after eating rojak (a local salad) and many had food poisoning at Geylang Serai food center. [...]

I had an interesting encounter this morning during my morning walks.
A Chinese China gentleman asked in Chinese language, “Do you know where the school for safety first is?”
My first thought was the driving school nearby…I asked, “Safety first…what do you mean? I don’t know of such school.”
He continued to ask, “A school?”
“I know of [...]

Can one’s earning power reflect how capable a person is in management of a corporation? Is one’s earning the gauge of his capability in running for offices in politics?
Recently theonlinecitizen.com posted that the Singapore Prime Minister gets $2.7 million per annum, topping the list of being the highest paid politician in the world — the US President, [...]

Generally Singaporeans are fortunate to enjoy sports stadium where the public could use the stadium for free.
Today, to my great disgust, there was animal pooh on the wood-chips track at the Gombak stadium. The wood-chips track is specially designed for those athletes to exercise while recovering from injuries.
Unfortunately some users not only bring their animals to accompany them [...]

Today I hear many claiming working in the field of psychology!
I had an interesting conversation with a junior college student who claimed her sister was lecturing at the polytechnic in Singapore after receiving a general degree in psychology.
To practise psychology, one has to earn a master diploma (not a general degree) and in some countries required licensing.
To [...]

One hears or reads statistics announcing the rise or fall of stocks or drop in sectors of economy. Are these useful for the public to gauge what is really happening or going on?
Take for example, tourism revenue. Is this that urgent or important? Fuel hike brought down many companies on the brink of closures. Naturally there [...]

You would never dream a 5-star hotel would be the target of terrorism.
This was precisely what happened in Mumbai 2 or 3 days ago (27 Nov)! The atrocities brought 130? (update30th: 170) dead.
This carnage was meticulously planned and executed!!!
(bbc.com)
Unfortunately the first Singaporean taken hostage at the Trident-Oberoi Hotel found dead was a female. Sic! there was no mercy for [...]

I was somewhat embarrassed when a girl in her late teen gave up her seat for me when I got on at the Jurong East station on one MRT ride towards town yesterday afternoon.
At first I thought she was getting off at the next stop but to my dismay when I lifted my eyes from [...]

“How’s school?”
“It’s boring!” remarked a teenager from a good school.
Sadly students think that teachers can teach…but the truth is, many of us who had gone through the mill discovered the qualified teachers were average. They could hardly impart knowledge. Some teachers read through the text with us during lessons and they expect us to perform. We must be the [...]
